Hope Women's Cross Country Places 19th at NCAA Div III Championships

The Hope College women's cross country team persevered through blustery and rainy conditions to place 19th at the 32-team NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday at Principia College in Elsah, Illinois.
The Great Lakes Regional and Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion Flying Dutch totaled 468 points for its 13th Top-20 finish at nationals all-time.
Head coach Mark Northuis was pleased with his team's performance.
"Our ladies work well through a pack and finished very strong," Northuis said. "We were about at our team goal time of 22:30. I am pleased with the progress we made this year as a team. The ladies raced hard for each other and to represent Hope College."
Junior Emily Hamilton of Naperville, Illinois (North HS) came in 72nd place out of 279 runners to lead Hope. She clocked a 6K time of 22 minutes, 4.90 seconds.
Senior Alissa Frazee of Watervliet, Michigan (Home School) took 103rd in 22:14.20.
Junior Avery Lowe of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon) recorded a 154th-place effort of 22:37.80.
Senior Alexis Guttilla of St. Charles, Illinois (Westminster Christian) finished 171st at 22:45.40.
Senior Rachael Webb of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) rounded out Hope's scoring in 173rd place at 22:46.80.
Other Hope times came from sophomore Chelsea Miskelley of Holland, Michigan (Black River) in 178th at 22:47.90 and sophomore Kelly Peregrine of Traverse City, Michigan (Central) in in 189th at 22:52.70.
