Front Line Racing Team Only US Team to win Two Team Titles at USATF Club Cross Country Championships

Eight USATF Club Cross Country team titles were on the line this past Saturday in West Chester, OH and Michigan’s Front Line Racing Team was the only team to grab two National team titles.

Front Line’s women’s 40+ team placed three runners in the top eight of the team competition to win the closest competition of the day as only four points separated the top three teams on the 6 KM course. Laura Murphy placed 3rd, Laurie Decker 4th, and Krys Brish was 8th in the competition. The top three runners on a team score. Murphy & Decker placed 3rd in their respective age groups. There was just a 30 second spread from Murphy to Brish.

Two points separated the top two teams in the men’s 60+ team category with Front Line’s team defeating the two time defending champion – Rariton Valley Road Runners on a 10 KM course. Doug Goodhue and Gerard Malaczynski would go first and second in the 65-59 Age Group.

The Front Line Racing Team was the defending champions in the 40+ Master’s Men’s division and returned six runners from the 2006 team. However, the Fluffy Bunny Track Club from Southern California and the Dirigo Running Club from Maine were just too solid from top to bottom. But Front Line was still able to take the Bronze medal as a team.

Defending Champion Tracy Lokken of Front Line lead much of the race, but Pete Magill of the Bunnies kicked it in at the end to defeat Lokken by 8 seconds. Paul Aufdemberge placed 5th and Mike Scannell gave the Front Line team three runners in the top ten – by placing 8th. Dave Watkins was 44th and Pat Lencioni placed 51st.

Lokken was the top runner in the 40-44 Age Group and Scannell placed 3rd among all 45-49 year olds.
