Terre Haute, Ind. (11/10/17) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team competed in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday afternoon.
The race took place in Terre Haute, Indiana at LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course and was hosted by Indiana State University.
The Titans were led by senior harrier Sydnie Fetherolf who finished with a time of 22:53, which earned her 126th in the women's 6k competition.
Fetherolf was followed by sophomore Kayla Hughes, who continued her steady improvement throughout the season by setting a new personal record with a mark of 24:10 for 187th, beating her old PR that she earned at last year's Great Lakes Regional by 12 seconds.
Crossing the line a mere nine seconds apart from each other were seniors Sydney Shaw and Taylor Smith, who finished with marks of 25:44 and 25:53, respectively.
Fetherolf and Smith did make some history as they became just the 17th and 18th runners in school history to run in four GLR's in their career.
