DEXTER, Mich. -- Several runners from the No. 10-ranked University of Michigan women's cross country team closed out their regular season schedule with the Eastern Michigan Fall Classic on Friday afternoon (Oct. 20).
Redshirt freshman Micaela Degenero was the top finisher for the Wolverines, placing 11th in 18:33.5 over the five-kilometer (3.1-mile) course at the Hudson Mills Metropark.
Degenero was succeeded across the line by redshirt freshman Alena Tonne in 15th (18:44.2), sophomore Faith Reynolds in 18th (18:48.9), sophomore Mary Kate McNamara in 24th (19:12.0) and redshirt freshman Margaret Sliney in 57th.
The competition, featuring several of the younger Wolverines and those who are testing their fitness for the upcoming indoor track and field season, was the final meet for Michigan ahead of next Sunday's Big Ten Championships in Bloomington, Indiana.
Michigan's full lineup will be back in action for Big Tens on Oct. 29, followed by the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Nov. 10 and -- if all goes according to plan -- the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, on Nov. 18.
