DEXTER, Mich. -- Select members of the No. 13-ranked University of Michigan men's cross country team wrapped up their regular season slate with the Eastern Michigan Fall Classic on Friday afternoon (Oct. 20).
Redshirt freshman Joost Plaetinck led the way for the Wolverines, finishing fourth in 15:16.3 over the five-kilometer (3.1-mile) course at the Hudson Mills Metropark.
Plaetinck was followed to the finish chute by redshirt freshman Jacob Branch in 10th (15:39.4), sophomore Garrett McPeek in 23rd (16:07.1) and redshirt senior Austin Benoit in 25th (16:13.7).
The competition, featuring several of the younger Wolverines and those who are testing their fitness for the upcoming indoor track and field season, was the final meet for Michigan ahead of next Sunday's Big Ten Championships in Bloomington, Ind.
Michigan's full lineup will be back in action for Big Tens on Oct. 29, followed by the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Nov. 10 and -- if all goes according to plan -- the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, on Nov. 18.
