UDM Women - Fetherolf Breaks 18, Places Second At Canisius Alumni Classic

DETROIT (10/14/17) -- Three University of Detroit Mercy harriers placed in the top 20 at the Canisius Alumni Classic and five posted personal records as the women's team was in action on Saturday afternoon.
The Titans totaled 69 points to finish third among the Division I competition in the 5k race held at Delaware Park.
Senior Sydnie Fetherolf was the top harrier for the Titans, placing second in the race with a time of 17:57, setting a new personal record for the third time this season.
It was also the fifth fastest 5k run in school history as she is now just the fifth runner to break the 18-minute barrier.
The Titans will now get ready for their regular-season finale as they take part in the EMU Fall Classic next Friday, Oct. 20

Sydnie Fetherolf posted a new personal record of 17:57, the fastest time by a Titan since Andrea Karl's 17:55 at the 2005 BGSU Falcon Invite
The run trails only Kim Hemstreet's 17:33 at the 2002 Horizon League Championships, Hemstreet's 17:49 at the 2001 MCC Championships, Karl's time at Bowling Green and the 17:56 by Ruthie Cook at the 2001 Central Collegiate Conference Championships
Aliza Hengesbach had her highest ever finish, placing 13th and setting a new PR of 19:31
Veronica Towianski, Rebekah Harden and Kayla Hughes placed 16th, 18th and 20th, respectively, while Harden set a new PR of 20:04.
Sydney Shaw, Annmarie Taylor and Taylor Smith also raced for the Titans, with Taylor setting a new PR at 20:53
Sarah DeDolph set a PR at 22:11
