Smith leads Women's XC to 7th at Bethel Invite


SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Five of the top 25 ranked teams in the NAIA and four others receiving votes in the coaches poll raced at the Bethel College Invitational on Friday evening. Included in that group were the top four teams from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and Cornerstone finished second among those and seventh overall in the 18-team field.



CU got another outstanding performance from Kelli Smith. The sophomore took ninth in 18:31. Freshman, Alexis McConnell made her season debut placing 20th in 19:06 with junior, Valerie Richter eight seconds back in 19:14. Senior, Ally Rabe ran 20:46 in 75th and sophomore Kata Bohatch finished 91st in 21:19.



Currently ranked second in the NAIA, Aquinas won with 45 points over tenth ranked Taylor with 51. Sixteenth ranked Madonna followed with 76. WHAC rivals Cornerstone, Indiana Tech and Seina Heights tooks seventh through ninth with CU leading the group with 220 points.
