Aquinas - #2 Women Win The Greater Louisville Classic

The Aquinas women's cross country team lived up to its #2 national ranking on Saturday (Sept. 30) at the Greater Louisville Classic in Kentucky, winning the blue 5K race at one of the top collegiate races in the country and recording the second-fastest time in school history. AQ placed three runners in the top-five and had five runners in the top-20, as the Saints finished ahead of six ranked NAIA schools and won the overall blue race.
Overall, the Saints were first among 17 non-NCAA Division I or Division II schools and the team champion among 38 total schools in the 5K race. AQ's total team time of 1:31:49.51 was the second-best by a Saints team in program history.
With 42 total points, AQ finished well ahead of #10 Taylor (86 points) in second place, third-place Hope (96), and #6 Shawnee State (104). Centre (150) rounded out the top-five schools.
Melissa Winchester (JR/Middleville, Michigan) was the top Saints finisher in third place at 17:58.60, just ahead of Adri Sigafoose (SR/McBain, Mich.) in fourth place at 17:59.68. Alexis Miller (JR/Caledonia, Michigan) was not far behind, taking fifth place with a time of 18:13.99.
Meghan Rasch (SR/Santa Clarita, Cal.) placed 12th with a time of 18:41.57 and Janie Noah (SO/Middleville, Mich.) crossed the line in 18:55.67 for an 18th place showing. Isabelle Luke (FR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished 47th at 19:37.29.
Kayelin Mazur (SR/Flint, Mich.) came in 66th place at 19:54.00, while Gabby Brandonisio (FR/Hanover, Mich.) was 68th at 19:55.80 and Leanne McWain (JR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished 72nd with a time of 19:58.45.
The Saints will run next on Oct. 6 in Mishawaka, Ind. at the Bethel College Invitational.
