Not many Division II runners can run a mile as fast as Caleb Gatchell.

The senior proved that once again Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama at the 2017 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships. Gatchell took sixth place in the mile, finishing the race in 4:08.65, earning All-American honors for the Chargers.

Gatchell improved on his preliminary race finish of seventh. He was the second-fastest GLIAC competitor in the mile at the national championships.

Two other members of the men's team competed at NCAAs.

Sophomore Tanner Schwannecke was 14th in his preliminary race in the 800 with a time of 1:55.02.

Junior Jared Schipper finished one spot out of an All-American slot, taking ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.95 meters.
