Calvin Women's Cross Country Takes Ninth at NCAA III Championships

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Calvin women's cross country team took ninth place at the NCAA III Championships on Saturday with a team score of 347 points. Saturday's 6K race was held at Tom Saywer Park.
The finish marks Calvin's Calvin's 19th top 10 finish ast the NCAA III Championships including third top 10 national finish in the last four years.
Sophomore Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) led the Calvin charge, finishing 56th in a time of 21:40. Senior McKenzie Diemer (Caledonia, Mich./South Christian HS) closed out her collegiate career with a strong race, placing 58th in a time of 21:41.
Senior Lauren Strohbehn (Stillwater, Mn./St. Croix Preparatory HS) was 80th in a time of 21:47 while freshman Kristen Lundberg (Albuquerque, NM/Hope Christian HS) was 164th in 22:22.
Rounding out Calvin's finishers on Saturday were freshman Johanna Admiraal (Cincinnati, Oh./Towson HS) in 175th (22:26), junior Marissa McGahan (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) in 197th (22:35) and junior Marissa Hielkema (Lynden, Wash./Lynden Christian HS) in 258th (23:28).
Johns Hopkins took the team title with a score of 128 points. Amy Regan of Stevens Institute of Technology won the individual national title, claiming first place honors with a time of 20:16.
