The men's cross country team placed 1st out of ten schools at the inaugural GRCC Raider Invitational hosted by Grand Rapids Community College. The meet was contested on the grounds of Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Saints, who are ranked 12th in latest NAIA poll, defeated Siena Heights by 24 points to win the team title. The men, who finished with 52 points, showed the coaching staff some strength and mental toughness as the Saints were without the services of their top eight runners, who were taking a break from racing this weekend. Grayson Harding (FR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) led the Saints attack across the finish line as he paced Aquinas in 10th place with a personal best time of 27:10. Matt MacGregor (FR/Rockford, Mich.) (12th - 27:18) and Angelo Leon (FR/Grand Rapids, Mich.) (13th - 27:19) both recorded career bests, while Stephen Pfahler (JR/St. Joesph, Mich.) (15th - 27:25) and Michael Gorman (SO/Harbor Springs, Mich.) (17th - 27:28) rounded out the scoring in the 93 person field. The Saints will return to the course in two weeks when they take part in the Bethel College Invitational at St. Patricks Park in South Bend, Indiana.
