Cornerstone U - Young takes 15th at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Cornerstone freshman, Colin DeYoung, placed in the awards for the second time this season, taking fifteenth at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College. Young led Cornerstone to a 13th place finish as they will return to action in two weeks at the Royals Challenge which is hosted at the site of the 2016 NAIA Cross Country National Championships.



After sitting near the top twenty for four miles, De Young blasted a 4:52 last mile, picking five places and reaching the finish in 25:47.



Sophomore, Joey DeBoer followed in 26:35, placing 48th with junior, Kevin Vroegh 78th in 26:59. Five seconds later, sophomore, Dough Hollett crossed in 87th place. Junior, Phil Merrell completed the team scoring, taking 178th in 28:26.



The Golden Eagles finished thirteenth out of 21 teams with 341 points, just 31 behind Bethel of Indiana. The Pilots are ranked 20th in the latest NAIA poll. Lindenwood won the meet with 78 points.
