LSSU - Thomas and Dieck record top-five GLIAC finishes

BIG RAPIDS – Lake Superior State junior Oshane Thomas placed second in the men's 200-meter dash finals and seventh in the 100-meter dash finals during Friday's last day of competition at the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Thomas finished behind Tiffin's Lamar Hargrove, who won the race in :21.23 with a -1.8 wind rating on the Ferris State University track. Thomas clocked a :21.57. He posted a time of :10.77 in the 100 dash.
Senior Justin Dieck placed fifth in the shot put (17.41 meters) and 10th in the discus throw (48.64 meters).
Thomas entered the week ranked 35th nationally in the 200-meter dash, while Dieck was tied for ninth in the shot put. Both are hoping to earn bids to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Nationals, which begin May 26 in Bradenton, Fla.
The LSSU men's track and field team placed 10th among 14 teams. The Laker women were shut out of the scoring.
