Hillsdale College - Emily Oren Captures GLIAC Athlete of the Week Honors

It took Emily Oren exactly one meet to distinguish herself among all GLIAC women's track athletes during the 2016 outdoor season.
A senior captain of the Charger women's track team, Oren raced to the best time in the 3000 meter steeplechase in Division II last weekend, and as a result, was named the GLIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office Tuesday morning.
Oren's time of 9:58.99 was the fourth-fastest in the history of NCAA Division II, but was still four seconds shy of the school record she owns, set when she won the national championship in that event at the outdoor national meet last May.
Oren took third place in the race, held in Palo Alto, California at the Stanford Invitational.
A seven-time national champion, Oren has won just about every award imaginable at the Division II level. This is the third time in 2015-16 Oren has won the GLIAC's weekly award for top-performing women's track athlete.
