Davenport - Brummel sets 5000 meter record at GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The DU track and field team competed at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday and Saturday in their final meet of the indoor season before the WHAC Indoor Championship.
The Panthers continued to show their improvements led by Al Lake who moved up the national list with a big personal best in the weight throw on a 17.63m.
Brittany Parker hit the NAIA "B" standard Friday night in the 600m run on a time of 1:37.65 that qualified her for nationals. Jenna Schumaker also earned her trip to nationals as she hit the NAIA "B" standard in the weight throw on a 15.81m toss.
Dustin Brummel would highlight the weekend as the senior set the new DU school record in the 5000m run on a time of 15:17.62 that nearly hit the "B" standard to send him to nationals. Mallory Bont just the qualifying mark for nationals in the long jump as her great day resulted in a 5.32m effort.
