UDM - Women's Track and Field Wraps Up at Jet's Pizza Invite

DETROIT (1/30/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team wrapped up action at the Jet's Pizza Invitational hosted by Saginaw Valley State University on Saturday.
Joining Detroit and Saginaw Valley State at the SVSU Fieldhouse were teams from Oakland, Siena Heights, Central Michigan, Cleary, Aquinas, Macomb, Davenport, Alma, Ferris State and Wayne State.
The Titans placed three inside the top ten in the 400-meter dash, led by freshman Kye Dozier's 58.16 .The mark set a Detroit rookie record as Dozier finished seventh in the event. Natalie Vizard finished ninth with a personal record of 59.58, while Jayonna Dent finished 10th at 59.59.
The freshmen 4x400-meter relay team of Vizard, A.J. Carnathan, Jhayla Mosley and Dozier finished with a time of 4:08.84, just 0.6 seconds off the Detroit rookie record.
The Titan 4x400-meter relay of Dent, Brogan Holmes, Samantha Zakalowski and Elizabeth Mullen crossed the line at 4:00.44 and in sixth-place of the event.
In the 60-meter hurdles, senior Aisha Potts-Tyre finished in fourth with a 9.11 mark. Classmate Allison Garner finished sixth in the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.84.
In the mile run, Sydnie Fetherolf placed eighth with a time of 5:20.59, while Zakalowski finished tenth in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:18.50.
Junior Ashley Bayles finished sixth in the weight throw, clearing 14.86 meters with the toss. She added a top-five finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.05 meters.
The Titans are back in action Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Youngstown State Invitational.
