Cornerstone U - T&F teams hit national marks at Goshen and Indiana

GOSHEN, Ind. – Besides competing at Saginaw Valley on Friday evening, the Cornerstone track and field teams also had successful days at Goshen and Indiana meets. CU had three female and one male race walker qualify at Goshen while both 4x800 relay teams hit their marks at Indiana.
Friday night saw the annual bid for a national mark in the race walk take Cornerstone to Goshen College. Nate Vanderwall (SR/Byron Center) won the men's competition with a time of 13:29 and it was 1:52 faster than the next competitor. On the women's side, CU placed three on the national list as Kayla Hunt (SR/Cedar Springs, Mich.) (15:36.1), Bailey Brogan (JR/Kalamazoo, Mich.) (15:59.2) and Melissa Manlan (SR/Kalamazoo, Mich.) (17:14.9) all hit their marks which two of them are auto standards.
Then on Saturday, Cornerstone went for qualifying marks at Indiana University in the 4x800 and they got them on each of the men's and women's sides.
The female quartet of Megan Quick (SO/Harrisville, Mich.), Audrey Tremaine (SR/Jackson, Mich.), Cathy Coryell (JR/Hamilton, Mich.) and Joey Reist were joined by their male counterparts of Kevin Vroegh (SO/Dyer, Ind.), Thomas Bambach (SR/Allendale, Mich.), Zach Feldpausch (SO/Fowler, Mich.) and Doug Hollett (FR/Kalamazoo, Mich.) in earning their way to the NAIA Indoor Nationals meet in Johnson City, Tenn. in March.
The Golden Eagles compete next on Friday and Saturday at Indiana and at Findlay.
