WSU - Track Continues Indoor Season At SVSU Classic

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- Members of the Wayne State University women's indoor track team competed at Friday's SVSU Classic with junior Kierra Johnson (Flint, Mich. / Brandon) winning the 60m race in a time of 7.83.

Johnson also set a personal best in placing second in the 200m (25.71).

Other top performances for WSU were turned in by:

Sophomore Morgan Sawgle (Fostoria, Mich. / North Branch) in the one mile run (5:40.99) and the 800m run (2:44.09).

Sophomore Karrington Seals (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) won the prelims then placed second in the finals of the 60m hurdles (8.96).

Junior Dazmonique Carr (Lawnside, N.J. / Haddon Heights) was the runner-up in the 400m race (58.77).

Sophomore Lauren Bohn (Windsor, Ont. / E. J. Lajeunesse Catholic H.S.) led WSU in the weight throw placing fifth with a toss of 15.16m (49-09.00).

Sophomore Jessie Kluz (Sterling Heights, Mich. / MMSTC) had Wayne State's top performance in both the long jump (2nd at 5.07m) and high jump (3rd at 1.63m).

Junior Elizabeth Herriman (Adrian, Mich. / Sand Creek) placed fourth in the shot put (12.77m / 41-10.75).

Redshirt sophomore Jewel Wilson (Voorhees, N.J. / Eastern) finished fifth in the triple jump (10.21m / 33-06.00).

Wayne State will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the Dragon Open hosted by Tiffin University.
