EMU - Women's Cross Country Closes Lid on 2015 Regular Season

DEXTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Following a tough race in Louisville, Ky., the Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team hosted the final meet of their 2015 regular season, the EMU Fall Classic, Friday, Oct. 23, in Dexter, Mich. The Eagles utilized a lineup that focused on resting their top harriers in order to keep them fresh for next week's Mid-American Conference Championship.
Senior Amy Frauhammer (Saline, Mich. - Saline) led the Eagles, as she crossed the finish line in 18:31.8, good for 25th. Just behind her was redshirt junior Anna Aldrich (Fremont, Ind. - Fremont), who finished 30th in 18:50.6. Sophomore Claire Mesa (Rockford, Ill. - Rockford Lutheran) crossed the finish line in 19:12.2 and placed 33rd. The next Eagle finisher was sophomore Lauren Pottschmidt (Granger, Ind. - Penn), who placed 35th with a time of 19:25.7. Rounding out the group was freshman Leah Wallace (Reynoldsburg, Ohio - Reynoldsburg) with a time of 20:14.8.
Additionally, sophomore Jenna Wyns (Londerzeel, Belgium - Sportschol KA2) ran unattached, but turned in a very solid race. Wyns managed to finish 13th in the field, crossing the finish line in 17:59.7.
Head Coach Sue Parks liked what she saw from the group. When discussing the race, she stated "I thought that the group that competed ran solid. We got out of it what we needed to going into next weekend."
The Green and White now begin the postseason portion of their schedule, with the Mid-American Conference Championships occurring Saturday, Oct. 31, in Akron, Ohio. Following this event, the Eagles then travel to Madison, Wis. for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, Friday, Nov. 13.
