Calvin Men's Cross Country 11th at UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational

WINNECONE, Wisc. - The Calvin men's cross country team finished 11th in the 45-team UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational on Saturday, posting a team score of 291 points.

Junior Zac Nowicki (Comstock Park/Calvin Christian HS) was Calvin's top finisher, placing 34th in a time of 25:14 on the Lake Breeze Golf Course.

Just a 26-second spread separated Nowicki from Calvin's No. 5 runner. Sophomore Andrew Philipose (Mount Prospect, IL/John Hersey HS) was Calvin's second man, placing 47th in 25:26. Senior Jeff Meitler (New Berlin, Wisc./Milwaukee Lutheran HS) was 66th in 25:37.

Sophomore Mark DeJong (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) was 70th in 25:40.0 with senior Jonathon Gingrich (Powell, Oh./Olentangy Liberty HS) also clocking in at 25:40.9 which was good for 74th in a tight pack of runners crossing the line.

Senior Ethan Anderson (Stillwater, Mn./Stillwater Area HS) was 87th in 25:48 with senior Matt Oram (Toledo, Oh./Toledo Christian HS) 102nd in 25:53 and freshman Jamison Koeman (Milford, Mass./Whitinsville Christian HS) 111th in 26:00.

Josh Thorson of UW-Eau Claire won the 8K race on Saturday with a time of 24:18. UW-Eau Claire also won first place team honors with a score of 99 points.

Calvin will now prepare for the MIAA Championships slated for October 31 in Charlotte, Michigan.
