EUGENE, Ore. (EMUEagles.com)—Eastern Michigan University's men's track and field team saw a record-breaking season come to a close for redshirt-junior Solomon Ijah (Murrieta, Calif.-Murrieta Valley), who bowed out of the decathlon after amassing 1,537 points.

Ijah started off the day placing fifth in the 100m dash in 10.92 seconds, but struggled on the next event as he fouled his three attempts at the long jump. Following that, he threw 12.87 meters/42 feet 2.75-inches in the shot put for 11th overall, but had another setback in the jumps with a no height clearance in the high jump. Following the event, he bowed out of the competition before the final event of the day.

The redshirt-junior ends the 2014-15 athletic year as a Mid-American Conference champion and EMU record holder in both the indoor heptathlon and outdoor decathlon. Ijah first bested his own Eastern varsity standard in the heptathlon with 5,444 points to win the title at the MAC Indoor Championships before he churned out two school records in the decathlon in the outdoor season with a personal best of 7,862 points.

The Eagles will have two more athletes competing on the national stage Friday, June 12. Donald Scott (Apopka, Fla.-Apopka) is scheduled to try his hand at the national title in the triple jump at 4:30 p.m. PT, while Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio-Maumee) will run in the 5000m at 6:30 p.m. PT.

The 2015 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships will have select segments broadcast live on TV through ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU, while live streams can be found online through ESPN3 and WatchESPN. Live results for the meet will be provided through ncaa.com.
