TEMPE, Ariz. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team began the Pac 12 vs. Big Ten Challenge with a pair of field events today (Friday, March 27) at the campus of Arizona State University.



Senior/junior Brad Bolton claimed fourth in the hammer throw, tossing 193-7.75 ft. (59.02m), while the discus featured four Wolverines among a field of 22 athletes. The highest-finishing Wolverine was sophomore/freshman Grant Cartwright in seventh place in his outdoor debut with a mark of 164-8.75 ft. (50.21m).



Action at the Pac 12 vs. Big Ten Challenge continues tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. MDT, beginning with the javelin. Running events begin 90 minutes later with the women's 100m hurdles.






N O T E S



• Redshirt freshman Grant Cartwright and true freshman Benjamin Hester made their outdoor debuts during this weekend's first day of action.



• The Arizona Wildcats, UCLA Bruins and the host Arizona State Sun Devils are the schools representing the Pac-12, while U-M is joined by the Indiana Hoosiers and Nebraska Cornhuskers as Big Ten representatives.
