Charger Men Sprint to 4th-Place Finish at GLIAC Championships

The Hillsdale College men's cross country team competed at the GLIAC Championship meet today at Tiffin, Ohio, finishing fourth overall and posting several best times of the season.
The team entered the meet ranked 11th in the nation and third in the Midwest region. The Chargers scored 104 points, behind Grand Valley State University, Malone University and Ashland.
Individually, seniority led the team. Joshua Mirth took 10th with a time of 24:15.0 and was followed by Luke Hickman, who took 11th with a time of 24:18.3. Mirth's time in this meet is his fastest meet finish this season, breaking his time of 24:43 from Sept. 12. Hickman also posted his lowest time of the season, breaking his time of 24:54.24 from Oct. 4.
Senior John Butler finished with at time of 24:49.0, his best time thus far this season. Senior Matthew Perkins followed closely behind, finishing with a time of25:05.09.
This was the Chargers' best finish at the conference meet since their third-place ranking in 2009.
Freshman Anthony Wondaal ended the meet with a time of 25:31.0, his best time of the season.
The Chargers will continue their season at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Meet in Evansville, Indiana on Nov. 22.
