U of M Men - James, Ferlic, Rayyan Just Miss on Final Day of East Prelims

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team sent three competitors into action during the final day of competition at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds (May 31) at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium; but each Wolverine was unable to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championship field.
Junior/sophomore Mason Ferlic (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds Park Academy) and senior/junior Morsi Rayyan (Dewitt, Mich./St. Johns) were trying to reach the NCAA field in a second event but failed to qualify in the 5,000-meter run. Ferlic placed 16th (14:50.04), and Rayyan finished 18th (14:50.66). Ferlic already qualified in the 3,000m steeplechase and Rayyan in the 10,000m run.
Fifth-year senior Bradley James (East Lansing, Mich./Haslett) had his career come to a close at the preliminaries with a 24th-place finish in the high jump. James cleared the bar at 2.10 meter (6-10 1/4 feet).
The Wolverines will send three competitors into action at the 2014 NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. Action starts on Wednesday, June 11.
