Allendale, Mich. -- In just the second year of the Wayne State University women's outdoor track squad, graduate student Jen Rock (Macomb, Mich./Utica Eisenhower) became the first All-American in program history by placing sixth in the 10k event at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Rock finished with a time of 35:31.64.

Earlier in the day, sophomore Brittany Johnson (Oxford, Mich.), who joined Rock as the first-ever NCAA outdoor track championship qualifiers, placed 13th in the 1,500m race in a time of 4:30.53, more than a second better than her personal best.

Wayne State is tied-for-15th out of the 23 teams that scored on the opening day with three points as only the top eight finishers in each event score.
