UDM - A Good Track and Field Season Never Ends

DETROIT (5/10/2014) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Youngstown State last weekend but the track and field season is not quite finished as a group of UDM student-athletes were at the Toledo Rocket Invitational in Toledo, Ohio and another in Naperville, Illinois at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College this past weekend.
In Toledo, Jasmine Greene - the UDM school record holder in the women's 400 meter hurdles - was the top finisher in the women's 400 meter hurdles as she ran with a time of 1:02.59.
Allison Garner placed second in the women's 100m with a mark of 12.39 and she also ran the 200m finishing with a mark of 25.41 and in fourth in place.
Shannon Marchant also ran placing seventh in the women's 800 meter race finishing with a time of 2:15.23 and establishing a new personal best improving on her 2:17.22 mark from this year's Horizon League Outdoor Championships.
Whitney Rogers was the lone field participant for Detroit this weekend as she finished second in the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.00m.
For the men, two competitors were in action as the reigning Horizon League men's 200 meter champion and 100 meter runner-up Charles Anthony was in Toledo. Anthony was fourth in the 100m running a time of 11.03 and fifth in the 200m clocking in at 22.02.
In Naperville, Austin Wigent finished 17th overall in the men's 10000 meter run running a time of 35:29.95.
The Titans have scheduled participants for the Louisville Twilight on May 16 in Louisville and also the Georgia Tech Invite on May 16 in Atlanta, Georgia prior to the NCAA Preliminary Rounds on May 29-May 31 in Jacksonville, Florida.
