HILLSDALE, Mich. - Aaron Davis moved himself up to fourth in Oakland's all-time rankings in the 100-meter dash on Saturday with a time of 10.97 and a ninth-place finish as OU completed action at the Gina Relays hosted by Hillsdale College. The three-day event culminated with numerous personal- and season-bests in preparation for Oakland's first-ever Horizon League Track and Field Championships May 2-4.
"The weather improved quite a bit for today and, with it being the championship day, we saw some very nice performances," said head coach Paul Rice. "Quite a few of our athletes ran season-bests today in their usual events including Sarah Moen, Courtney Stauffer and Morgan Bridgewater. The big highlight of the day came from Davis in the 100m as he ran a PR and now sits fourth on our all-time list. All in all, this was a very busy three days for our coaches but we saw some things that show us we are ready for next week's [conference] championships."
Moen ran the 100m hurdles in a time of 15.32 and an 11th-place finish while Stauffer finished 18th in the 800m with a time of 2:16.97. Bridgewater added to the list of season-bests in the 1,500m with a fourth-place finish and a time of 4:47.59.
For the men, Chris Scott finish the 1,500m in third place with a time of 3:59.61 - a time that ranks fourth all-time in OU history - while teammate George O'Connor followed short behind in 10th place with a time of 4:02.39. Buddy Becker competed in the discus and finished with a mark of 129 feet, 6 inches to rank 23rd at the Gina Relays and third all-time in Oakland history.
