Hillsdale College - Men's Track Gets Outdoor Season Underway

The Hillsdale College men's track team retreated to warmer conditions at North Carolina State University this weekend to participate in a huge two-day meet.
Several Chargers got the outdoor season off on a good note at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina.
Hurdling specialist Matthew Raffin (pictured) placed 19th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.95, followed by a 22nd-place spot in the 400 hurdles, finishing in 54.39 seconds.
Indoor All-American Maurice Jones ran two very competitive races in his first jaunt outside this year, taking 11th in the 200 meter dash (22.54) and 23rd in the 400 hurdles (54.39), tying his teammate.
Two of the team's best field event athletes also placed well among a large field with lots of Division I competitors.
Indoor All-American Ty Etchemendy competed in the triple jump invite event, and took seventh, clearing 14.46 meters. Pole vaulter Matthew Harris was the top finisher on the weekend for Hillsdale, taking second with a mark of 4.6 meters.
Distance runners Matthew Perkins and Luke Hickman each finished in eighth place in their sections of the 5000 and 10,000, respectively. John Butler took 15th in the 10K as well.
Justin Fawley, now healthy and back on the track for Hillsdale, placed seventh in both the high jump (1.95 meters) and long jump (6.79 meters).
