CMU - Track and Field Kick Off Outdoor Season at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The track and field program started its outdoor season at the Lenny Lyles-Clark Wood Invitational at the University of Louisville on Friday and Saturday.



On Saturday the Chippewas earned first place finishes in nine events.



On the women’s side, senior Kelsey Ritter took first in the 100-meter dash, posting a mark of 12:15. Teammate Diamond Hamilton finished in third with a mark of 12.36.



Senior Shawntoreah Turk placed first in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.87. Ritter and Hamiliton finished fourth (25.69) and sixth (25.76), respectively.



Sprinter, Ravyn Baxter won the 400-meter dash with a mark of 57.41.



Freshman Kelsey Ross placed third in the 800-meter run posting a mark of 2:15.07.



Breanne Lesnar took first in the 5000-meter run with a mark of 17:04.92. Teammates Kelly Schubert and Krista Parks placed second and third posting marks of 17:13.16 and 17:24.34, respectively.



In the 400-meter hurdles, Bridget Doughty finished first with a mark of 1:03.11, while Emma Fishnick placed third (1:03.96.



Sophomore Alyssa Dyer placed second in the 3000-meter steeplechase; which is a race over 3000 meters with obstacles.



The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Doughty, Baxter, Fishnick and Alexsis Studer placed first with a time of 3:1535.



Senior Samantha Stein finished the high jump in fourth with a mark of 5-01.83. Senior Megan Heffner placed seventh in the high jump posting a mark of 5-00.1.



Senior Kelly Morrissey tied for fourth in the pole vault marking an 11-03.5.



Markala Goodson ties for fifth in the long jump with a mark of 16-05.6.



Freshman Mariah Davis makes her debut and finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 44-07.1. Davis also placed tenth in the hammer throw marking a 132-08, respectively. Teammate Kylee Dobbalaere finished fifth with a mark of 166-00.7.



Devent Brown placed second in the discus throw with a mark of 173-01.9 and Kyla Walworth finished seventh posting a mark of 149-04.



Milica Kulidzan finished third in the javelin throw with a mark of 129-08.



On the men’s side, Brad Parson placed sixth in the 100-meter dash with a mark of 11.01. Parson finished fourth in the 200-meter dash posting a 22.40.



Curtis Mitchell and Quincy Briggs placed sixth and seventh in the 200-meter dash with mark of 22.80 and 22.90, respectively.



In the 400-meter dash, Malik Vasquez placed third with a mark of 49.48. Teammate Kyle Allinder also finished third in the 800-meter run with a mark of 1:55.51.



Junior Nathan Huff finished fifth in the 1500-meter run posting a mark of 3:55.23 and teammate Anderson Lee finished with a mark of 4:03.32, respectively.



Junior Nate Ghena and freshman Spencer Nousain placed first and second in the 5000-meter run with marks of 14:46.91 and 14:51.23, respectively.



Parker Scott placed third in the 400-meter hurdles posting a mark of 53.42, while teammate Ja’Corey Lipsey finished fourth (54.20).



Redshirt Freshman Melvin Harris finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 6-00.6 and teammate Matt Mueller tied for fifth with a mark of 5-09.



Junior Diavonte Smith finished first in the long jump with a mark of 23-01 and teammate Nick Malliaras finished sixth (20-05.3).



Craig Mauldin and Michael Johnson placed third and fourth in the triple jump with marks of 45-01.44 and 40-03.54, respectively.



Senior Alex Rose won the discus throw with a mark of 185-01 and teammates Cole Walderzak and Dylan Banagis finished third and seventh with marks of 178-02.48 and 167.05.8, respectively.



Walderzak placed second posting a mark of 204-02.65 in the hammer throw. Rose and Banagis took fifth and seventh with marks of 183-07.27 and 176-07.71, respectively.



In the javelin throw, Kyle Smith and Brandon McCleese finished third and fourth with marks of 188-09.76 and 186-02.53.



The Maroon and Gold will travel to the Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invite in East Lansing, Mich. on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5.
