The Berkley High Cross Country teams each take Sixth Place

This past Saturday, the Berkley High School Girls’ and Boys’ Cross Country teams ran at the Falcon Invitational hosted by Divine Child High School. Both teams finish in sixth place among the Division I competitors.
Receiving medals for the girls’ team were Junior, Michelle Lapin. Lapin took 5th place. Junior, Katie Grassa took 9th place, and Junior, Sydney Behrmann took 20th place while running her fastest time of the 2007 season.
Senior, Zaven Shrikian received the only medal for the Bears in the boys race, taking 6th place and running his best time of the 2007 season.
Other impressive performances were posted by: Freshman, Liz Moses, running the fastest time of her career while competing in her first varsity invitational meet; Freshman, Claire Sinai also ran the fastest time of her career while racing in her second varsity invitational meet.
In the boys’ race, Senior, Chris Copacia matched his fastest time ever; Freshman, Gregory Sollish ran the fastest time of his career in clocking his first sub-20:00 finish; Junior, Sean Bennett and Sophomore, Vince Pettelle also ran their fastest times of the 2007 season.
The Berkley Cross Country teams will be competing in the All Oakland County Cross Country Championships this Saturday. Next Monday, the teams face their final OAA Div. II foes in a double dual meet against Groves and Royal Oak. The Boys are 5-1 in the OAA-II and the Girls are 3-3.
