Northwood - Track Teams Compete At LSSU Laker Open

The Northwood University track and field teams competed at the LSSU Laker Open Friday night (January 25).
No team scoring was taken at the event, which included athletes from Northwood, Lake Superior State and Sault College.
Northwood had a strong night at the event, taking home 12 events. On the men' s side, Daniel Capek earned a NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark in winning the weight throw, finishing with a toss of 17.17 meters. Korvon Harris took home the win in the 55 meter dash (6.53), while Doug Lander claimed the victory in the 400 (50.94). Matt Williams clocked a 2:00.55 to earn the victory in the 800. DeKalita Silas ran 9:01.39 to claim the victory in the 3,000.
The women's team earned seven victories at the meet. Valencia Lynch was the winner in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.64. Marsadie Cinato ran a 1:00.21 in the 400 to earn the win, while Brittany O'Hora took the victory in the 800 with a time of (2:26.58). Brittany Robichaud was the winner in the 1600 with a time of 5:19.4. Danielle Miller ran 10:42.98 in the 3,000 to earn the win, while Hunter Perry took the shot put victory with a toss of 10.66 meters. Northwood also was the winner in the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 4:06.22.
Northwood will compete at the DII Challenge February 1.
