U of M - Forys Reaches Steeplechase Final at U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. -- Recent U-M graduate Craig Forys (Howell, N.J./Colts Neck), who competed the past five seasons (2008-12) as a member of the University of Michigan men's track and field and cross country teams, finished third in his preliminary heat and eighth overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Monday (June 25) to advance to the finals at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Forys clocked a time of 8:30.85, which was less than two seconds off his career-best time of 8:28.90.
The steeplechase final will be held on Thursday (June 28) at 6:30 p.m. PDT and can be seen live on NBC Sports Network.
Also competing on Thursday will be current U-M sophomore Ali Arastu (Northville, Mich./Northville), who will race in 400-meter hurdles qualifying round at 6 p.m. PDT. That race can also be seen live on NBCSN.
Former distance runner Alan Webb (2002), who competes for Nike, participated in the 5,000-meter run qualifying round on Monday (June 25) and finished 21st in a time of 14:01.25.
Former Wolverine Jeff Porter (2004-07) will compete in the 110-meter hurdles during the remaining four days of the trials. The qualifying round will take place on Friday (June 29), with the semifinals and finals being held on Saturday (June 29).
