ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Freshman Philip Washington (West Bloomfield, Mich./West Bloomfield) of the University of Michigan men's track and field team finished eighth in 47.59 in the 400-meter dash at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships on Sunday (June 17) at Indiana's Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.

In the prelims on Saturday (June 16), Washington clocked the exact same time (47.59) to place second in his heat and earn his spot in the finals. Aldrich Bailey of the Dallas Gold Track Club ran 45.37 in the finals to win the event.
