EMU - Rawls Eliminated from NCAA Contention in Semifinals

DES MOINES, Iowa (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University junior track and field athlete, Asia Rawls, competed in the 2012 NCAA Division I Championships Wednesday, June 6, at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Rawls was the only member of the EMU women's track and field team to earn an invite to Drake University for this year's national event.


Rawls finished in 23rd place of the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:01.18, failing to qualify for the final round. Rawls finished in eighth place of the second heat, while the winner of the event was Turquoise Thompson of the Unviersity of California-Los Angeles.


The NCAA Division I Championships continue through Saturday, June 9, while the Eastern men's track and field team sent a pair of athletes, Terefe Ejigu and Donald Scott, who will compete Friday, June 8.
