Provided by U of M DES MOINES, Iowa -- Fifth-year senior Craig Forys (Howell, N.J./Colts Neck) of the University of Michigan men's track and field team finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinals on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday (June 7) at Drake University's Drake Stadium. Forys finished second in his heat and third overall with a time of 8:39.53. He automatically advanced to Saturday's (June 9) final, which is set for an 11:52 a.m. CDT start. Princeton's Donn Cabral recorded the top time at 8:38.12. The 4x400-meter relay of senior Nick Neuman (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), junior Aaron Taylor (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams), senior/junior Matthew Campbell (Rochester, Mich./Rochester) and freshman Philip Washington (West Bloomfield, Mich./West Bloomfield) finished 19th with a time of 3:07.03. Each member of the relay garnered All-America Honorable Mention. Today marked the first time a Michigan 4x400-meter relay team competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships since 2008. Former Wolverines Andre Barnes, Andrew Wechter, Dan Harmsen and Stann Waithe recorded a school-record time of 3:04.43 in the prelims and took fourth in the finals in 3:04.64 that season.
