GVSU Men - Three Lakers Earn All-America Honors At NCAA T&F Indoor National Championships

Mankato, Minn. - The Grand Valley State men's indoor track and field team tallied three All-America honors and finished 22nd in the team results with 10 points. Senior Anthony Witt (Jasonville, Ind./Shakamak), senior Tyler Emmorey (Cedar Springs, Mich.) and sophomore Bret Myers (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut) recorded top eight finishes to earn 2012 All-America honors. Grand Canyon finished first with 54 team points, followed by Adams State (47) and Southern Connecticut State (39).



"I am really proud of the kids that competed at the NCAA DII Indoor National Championships," said GVSU head coach Jerry Baltes. "We earned three All-America honors and turned in some outstanding performances," added Baltes.



Witt finished fourth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 14:20.46, earning his first track & field All-America honor, while Emmorey crossed the finish line eighth in a time of 14:28.66, earning his fourth All-America honor overall and first indoors. Myers tallied a fifth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 16-04.75 to earn All-America honors in his first-ever appearance at the NCAA National Championships. Junior Donny Stiffler (Webberville, Mich./Williamston) finished 11th in the shot put with a toss of 53-05.75.
