Siena Heights - Nine Athletes to Represent SHU Men's Track & Field at NAIA Indoors

GENEVA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights men's track and field team is ready to compete at the 2012 NAIA Indoor Championships, which will be held this season at The SPIRE Institute on Mar. 1-3.

A total of seven individual performers and one relay team will represent the Saints at the meet, including three student-athletes who are seeded among the Top 10 in their respective events: Doug Dawson (Roseville, Mich./Roseville), Ray Carney (Blissfield, Mich./Blissfield) and Zach Widner (Detroit, Mich./Weston Prep).

Others set to compete are Gauge Aebersold (Manitou, Mich./Onsted), Logan Moore (South Gate, Mich./Anderson),Jesiah Rodriguez (Erie, Mich./Erie Mason), Calvin Sullins (Sand Creek, Mich.) and and the SHU distance medley relay team of Rodriguez, Widner, Ryan McElyea (Flint, Mich./Carman Ainsworth) and Chase Every (Mason, Mich./Mason).

Dawson enters NAIAs with the third-best seed in the 400-meter dash. The 400 champ in the WHAC has a top time of :48.41.

Carney holds the next-best individual ranking as he is seeded seventh in the 35-pound weight throw. His best performance is 18.34 meters.

In the 1,000, Widner is rated 10th with a time of 2:32.77.

The DMR squad enters NAIAs as the eighth-best foursome in the field. It has a top time of 10:17.81.

Rodriguez is seeded 11th in the mile (4:17.44) while Moore, who won the WHAC crown in the 60 hurdles, is ranked 13th in that event (:08.25).

Sullins also holds a No. 13 seed in the heptathlon (4,705) and Aebersold holds the 17th slot in the shot put (15.67 meters).
