ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Titan women's track and field had two different meets this weekend. The team split and some members participated in the Grand Valley State Tune-Up on Friday in Allendale while others went to Ann Arbor for the Silverston Invitational hosted by Michigan on Saturday.
In the 800m race at GVSU, Sarah Martinez finished with the eighth best Titan mark at 2.19.33 and placed seventh in the race. She was also just the seventh Titan to finish under 2:20 on an indoor track. Also in that race, Olivia Smid set a new PR with a time of 2:26.38 and Sara Taylor set a new indoor best at 2:31.78.
In the mile run, Katrina Oberski upped her PR and recorded the11th best all-time finish among past Detroit Titans with a 5:18.75 time.
In the pole vault, Kayla Zauner finished with the sixth best Titan mark at 3.02m.
In shot put, Lauren Berlin set a new indoor PR with a toss of 11.41m and a sixth place finish.
At the Silverston Invitational in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Sequoyia Calhoun ran the 60m dash in 7.96 for a new PR and the ninth best all-time Detroit Titan mark. Brandee Hart's 8.06 and Jasmine Greene's 8.09 were both new PR's. Calhoun also ran in the 200m finishing sixth and timed in at 25.93 becoming just the fourth Titan to break 26 minutes on a 200m track.
Hart also clocked in at 9.01 in the 60m hurdles, good for a seventh place finish.
The Indoor Track and Field Horizon League Championships will be the next competition for the Titans set for Feb. 25-26 at Youngstown State in Youngstown, OH.
