LSSU - Lakers win 10 events at The Cardinal

UNIVERSITY CENTER - two athletes were double winners as Lake Superior State won 10 events at The Cardinal indoor track and field meet hosted Saturday by Saginaw Valley State University.



Leslie Ann Mitchell won the women's 200-meter dash in a school-record time of :25.75 and placed second to Central Michigan's Dierra Riley in the 60-meter dash with a record time of :07.83. Shashawna Bennett was a double winner, taking the 60-meter hurdles in :08.99 and the long jump with a distance of 5.43 meters. Michaela Newberry won the 400-meter run in 1:00.49.



LSSU's Katie Winiarski, competing unattached, won the women's triple jump with a leap of 10.73 meters.



Ben Monroe was a double winner for the Laker men, claiming the 60-meter hurdles in :07.00 and the 200-meter dash in :22.53. Taylor Heath won the 3,000-meter run in 9:04.75 and placed third in the mile with a time of 4:32.26. Jeremy Braman won the men's high jump with a height of 1.98 meters. Jason Brenton won the triple jump with a distance of 14.18 meters and placed third in the pole vault (14-6 feet).



Zach Lynch was second in the 800-meter run (1:57.96).
