MSU Spartans complete Saturday action at Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, IND. - The Spartan Track & Field squad wrapped up Saturday action in Bloomington, Ind. this afternoon with a new school record in the women's 4x400 meter relay.
The relay team of Brittany Lewis, Amelia Bannister, Jaelynn Pryor and Alysson Bodenbach raced to a first-place finish with a school-record time of 3:39.79. The previous record of 3:40:19 was held by the 1991 relay team comprised of Susan Francis, Christine Duverge, Diana Murphy, and Shirley Evans.
Throwing events continued to be a strength for Michigan State. Jay Gillespie placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 68-1 ¾ (20.77m) while teammate Zack Hill grabbed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 60-3 (18.36m). In the women's weight throw, fourth-place went to Beth Rohl at 67-08 ¼ (20.63m).
In sprints, senior Leslie Aririguzo earned third-place with a time of 8.50 in the women's 60m hurdles, while Freshmen DeVantré Whitelow placed fourth in finals of the 60m dash (6.80).
Distance saw Katie Haines run sub-17 in the women's 5000m. She placed fourth with a time of 16:50.30.
Michigan State travels to Notre Dame, Ind. next weekend for the Meyo Invitational.
