Michigan is represented all the way from the Detroit area (Hansons-Brooks Olympic Development Project) to one of the northern-most parts of our state -- Hancock, Michigan.
The RunMichigan.com team will be at the trials to cover both men's and women's races, along with all the post-race reaction from all of our Michigan runners. In the women's race, Rochester Hills' based Hansons-Brooks athlete Desi Davila is our top seeded runner. Desi is seeded 4th and has a great chance of finishing in the top three and making the 2012 US Olympic Team.
Other top seeds from Michigan include Detroit area runners Dot McMahan, Molly Pritz and Melissa Johnson-White. A recent newcomer to our state, Kathy Newberry of Ann Arbor and former Richland Gull Lake and Grand Valley State runner Jeannette (Seckinger) Faber also are among the nation's top women's marathoners.
For the men, former Rockford (MI) High School standouts, Dathan Ritzenhein and Jason Hartmann, are two of our country's top contenders to represent the U.S. at the 2012 Olympic Marathon in London. Dathan also made the 2008 Olympic Marathon Team along with Hansons-Brooks (Rochester Hills) runner Brian Sell. Although Sell qualified for this year's trials, he has since retired from competitive running and will not be racing this weekend in Houston.
Hansons-Brooks' runners Justin Young, Luke Humphrey and Mike Morgan are other top seeds in the men's field.
RunMichigan.com wishes all our Michigan runners the best of luck at this year's trials!
