Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon Celebrates 2012 with New Half Marathon. Registration Starts Today, January 1
Now in its 35th year, the Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon has added something new for 2012 -- an additional Half-Marathon event, to be held completely within the U.S.A. Registration for all 2012 races begins today, January 1.
According to the race organizer's website, the Chevy U.S. Half-Marathon will take place on the back half of the existing full marathon course and will begin after the majority of runners have crossed the half-way point. Further details and plans are still in development. The original International Half-Marathon is staying as is, giving runners the opportunity to cross the border or stay completely within the U.S.
2011 saw a record number of participants cruise through the streets of Detroit and Windsor for the Half-Marathon, Marathon and Relay events. With the addition of the new Chevy U.S. Half-Marathon, those numbers could increase again.
