MOUNT PLEASANT - Months of training and preparation from Tecumseh Adams will be put to the test Monday as the sophomore is set to compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

Adams, who was crowned MAC Champion several weeks ago, will be the lone MAC representative among a field of 255 runners on the Lavern Gibson Championship Course when the official's gun marks the start of the 10K race at approximately 12:08 p.m.

After finishing fourth in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet, arguably the toughest region in the country with five teams in the top 30 of the USTFCCCA national polls released Tuesday, Adams will look to build upon his momentum from the past two meets on a course with which he is already familiar.

Adams and the Chippewas competed at the 8K Pre-National Meet held on the same course in mid-October, when he finished 17th in a field that included seven teams and five of the 28 at-large individuals who qualified for Monday's National Championship race.

The competition at Monday's meet will be far stiffer, with all 30 of the teams in the USTFCCCA national rankings in attendance.

If Adams can finish in the top 40 of the strong field, he would the the first CMU runner to earn All-American honors since Tristen Perlberg in 2004, and the first sophomore in school history to earn both a conference championship and All-American honors.

A live stream of the race will be available on NCAA.com at noon on Monday, and live up-to-the-minute coverage will be provided at the Twitter page for the cross country program,
