ANN ARBOR, MICH. - Spartan Track and Field completed action this afternoon at the Silverston Invitational with several individual victories in sprinting events and a strong team effort from the men and women's throwing squad. Today's action served as Michigan State's final tune up before the Big Ten Indoor Championships next weekend at Nebraska.

Michigan State swept both 400-meter dash events, with Alysson Bodenbach claiming first in the women's race with a time of 54.27. Today's mark was just short of the personal-best 54.00 that she set last week at the Spire Invitational. The men's victory came from freshmen Aaron Hendricks who finished in 50.58.

Alicia Evans earned first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.70, narrowly defeating Eastern Michigan's Danielle Clark who finished in 24.78.

Also earning a victory in sprints was freshman DeVantré Whitelow, who ran the 60-meter dash in 6.80. Whitelow's effort ties a personal-best that he set at the Indiana Relays on January 28.

Rounding out sprints, the women's 60-meters hurdles saw Leslie Aririguzo place third in 8.50.

MSU dominated the women's weight throw with Beth Rohl grabbing the first with a toss of 20.23m (66-04 1/2) while her teammates claimed runner-up spots. Shatora Lewis placed second (19.28m / 63-03 1/4), Catherine Daniels was third (18.28m / 59-11 3/4), and Robyn Whalen wrapped up fourth with an effort of 17.93m (58-10).

Men's throws was led by the performances of Zack Hill in the shot put and Jay Gillespie in the weight throw. Hill's personal-best of 18.78m (61-7 1/2) was good for second place. His teammates secured the next three spots for Michigan State with Aaron Ide in third (16.93m / 55-06 1/2), Antonio James at fourth (16.84m / 55-03), and Lonnie Pugh in fifth place (16.30 / 53-05 3/4). Gillespie's weight throw of 20.78m (68-02 1/4) was good for second place. He was followed by a personal-best from James (20.66m / 67-09 1/2) and a fourth-place effort from Pugh at 20.36m (66-09 3/4).

Field events were capped by Cliff Miller, who placed third with a new personal-best of 5.00m (16-04 3/4) in the pole vault.
