Gopher the Gold 5k/10k and Kids Run, July 26th 2008

Summer is a time where you can sit back and relax or throw on some running shoes for a good race! If you are looking for a race this summer, why not “gopher” it and sign up for the fifth annual Gopher the Gold Charity Run on July 26, 2008. The proceeds from this event benefit the Michigan Special Olympics. The race will be held at River Bends Park in Shelby Township and the official start time of the race is 9 a.m. with registration beginning at 8 a.m. or earlier.

This event provides racing fun for all and includes a 5K walk, 5K and 10K run as well as kid’s fun run for those 12 and under. The course lends itself to fast times with good footing, wide running paths and a predominately flat course. So, it is a great course for the speedster as well as the newcomer!

The 5K and 10K cost $25. For those walking the 5K, the cost is $15. The kid’s fun run is free and all Special Olympians will also receive a free entry. T-shirts are guaranteed for those who register before July 16 or to the first 130 participants. Awards to overall and top 3 in each age division.
