Divine Child High School
Cross Country
Is a necessity
Waiting at the starting line
Many thoughts cross your mind
Focused on the race
Wondering about your pace
Waiting for the official
As he gets ready to say runners relax, get ready
You stand there steady
Staying positive but nervous
Your heart is pounding
Too fast to be counting
You look around at the competition
There is only one definition
Cross Country is a true passion
The gun goes off and you begin your race
While keeping a strong and fierce face
Your heart is beating
Your legs are shaking
All you hope is to do amazing
You go out there and give it all you have got
Hoping to get a p.r by a lot
As you race up the first hill
You hear shouting saying kill the hill
During the race your team cheers you on
We all have such a close bond
Always there for each other
Supporting one another
As you get close to the finish
You kick it in
Wanting to win
You try to pass every girl by you
One by one you say to yourself I know I can beat you
You pass the line being satisfied
It feels like you cannot breathe
There is only one thing you want to do
Sit down it does not matter where or by whom
You get the best feeling after a race
Knowing what you have accomplished
You see how you did with amazement
Cross Country is definitely my necessity
