IT'S CRIM WEEK IN MICHIGAN
"From the scenic start over the Flint River to the tough Bradley Hills to the famed down-the-brick-street finish, few races have drawn runners from around the world like the Crim 10 mile has. Yet Saturday's 10 mile on August 24 is only one of the day's activities," says Michigan Runner's Charles D. McEwen. The Crim festival offers an event for everyone, including 8K, 5K and 1 mile runs, 5K and 1 mile walks and a Teddy Bear Trot.
The Crim Sports and Fitness Expo begins Thursday at 4-8 pm at the Riverfront Character Inn and continues Friday 11am-9pm. Rod Craig leads the race-walk clinic Thursday at 6 and none other than marathon world record holder Catherine Ndereba will conduct a running clinic Friday at 3:30pm.
The Flint Journal's post-race party continues until 4pm Saturday with live entertainment provided by Reverend Right-Time, DJ Craig Center & Black Tie Productions, and The Swinging Demons. The party isn't over until you've watched the WFUM TV race broadcast early Saturday evening.

TIM MOORE IS MICHIGAN HIGH SCHOOL RUNNER OF THE YEAR
The September/October 2002 issue of Michigan Runner magazine has announced that Tim Moore is the 2001-2001 Michigan High School Runner of the Year. Moore is the 2001 Footlocker National Cross Country Champion and was a member of the US junior team at the World Cross Country Championships. The Novi High School graduate will attend the University of Notre Dame in September.
Tim is the second athlete named as the Michigan High School Runner of the year. Dathan Ritzenhein was the first in 2000-2001. Honorable mentions have been awarded to Nikki Bonsack, Nicole Bush, Candice Davis, Katie Erdman, Kenneth Ferguson, Krishawna parker, Tim Ross, and Amber Smith. IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T HEARD; WEBB SIGNS WITH NIKE
Last week Dick Patrick of USA Today broke the story: Alan Webb signed with Nike. According to Nike's August 15th press release, Webb plans to train with his high school coach Scott Raczko and continue his education in Virginia.
"We are thrilled to have Alan Webb join our family of athletes," said John Capriotti, Nike's Global Director of Running Sports Marketing. "Nike has the largest youth running program in the country and we know Alan will be a great role model for young runners on and off the track."
