Grand Bend Community Run Down on the Beach October 17th, 2004 5k and 10 k events 10:00 a.m. Downtown start Grand Bend is a close knit community on the Shores of Lake Huron, about 45 minutes north of London, Ontario. Located on Highway 21 at the northeastern tip of Lambton Shores is Grand Bend. Grand Bend brings to mind images of sandy beaches, summertime and fun, fun fun. However in the 1830's it was the large pine and oak trees that led to the founding of Grand Bend. By the 1900's Grand Bend had become a popular vacation spot.
