I just started using Runkeeper (either on your iPhone or just go to runkeeper.com) ... what a cool tool to track and publish your runs to your friends if you want! Links up to facebook too!

Yes, good suggestion and welcome to the forum..

The only thing I see wrong with this is you have to have your GPS enabled for the whole day.. and it will probably drain your battery quick??

Do you have any experience with battery life or impact??

Can you last a whole day without recharging with it on??

Thanks!

Actually I don't use an iPhone so I simply use it to log my routes ... when I get home I have several routes that I preset (or I could create them on the fly) and just enter my times ... it's fun for me to chart and see progress and selfishly since it links to Facebook I enjoy the encouragement from my friends to keep me motivated!

I'm with Verizon and I plan to go droid in about 6 months when I upgrade so it will be nice to have more options ... but while I'm racing I think I'm going to invest in a Garmin Forerunner (305) ... my friend has one and loves it and my wife and I will probably share during our runs as she is getting into it now too ...

The RunKeeper Pro version that usually sells for $9.99 is now free for android and iPhone for a few more days through the end of Jan. It has a lot more features than the free version and you can't beat the $0 price!
