  Locally sponsored by Karmanos Cancer Institute, Detroit's Race is a top-tier event in the Komen Race Series of over 100 events in which 1.5 million people will participate this year-- 30,000 in Detroit. The event raises awareness and funds for local breast screening, treatment and education programs; and for research grants made by Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Breast cancer mortality is alarmingly high in our community, with a disproportionate impact on women without adequate insurance. Help us CLOSE THE GAP, and enjoy a wonderful Metro Detroit celebration!
